PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) continues to support community development through its corporate social responsibility program, where HMSI carries out corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities entitled “Empowering the Future of Ciwangi Through Literacy.” Located in Ciwangi Village, Purwakarta, Hino provides full support for the construction of Saung Baca, a child-friendly learning space made of wood and bamboo that blends in with the rural environment. This 25-square-meter Saung Baca is designed as a child-friendly learning space made of wood and bamboo, which blends in with the rural character. This facility is intended to be used by more than 50 children in regular literacy activities every weekend, as well as an additional learning space for elementary school students in the surrounding villages.
“We believe that the future begins with literacy. Through Saung Baca, we want to provide a space that is not only a place for reading, but also a place for children to build their dreams and self-confidence,” said Dyah Maryati, CARM Dept Head of HMSI.
In addition to physical construction, Hino also supports the procurement of encyclopedias and educational reading books, comfortable seating facilities, and a reading program that involves the community and the local Library Office. Furthermore, this program also involves carpenters and local workers during the construction process, thereby providing a direct impact on the local community's economy.
With the presence of Saung Baca, the Ciwangi Village community now has a literacy center that can be used for reading, creative classes, and local cultural preservation activities. Saung Baca will be managed independently by the village community so that its benefits can be felt sustainably and reach more young people in the future. Through this initiative, Hino emphasizes that business growth must go hand in hand with social contributions that have a direct impact on the community.
