Shingo Sakai Appointed as the New Leader of HMSI. Hino Indonesia Announces Change of President Director

PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) has officially announced a change in its top leadership, marking an important new chapter in Hino’s leadership journey in Indonesia. Takashi Muto has handed over the leadership baton to Shingo Sakai, who has officially assumed the position of President Director of HMSI effective February 7, 2026.

This leadership transition is part of Hino’s tour of duty tradition, which emphasizes executive rotation across various markets to enrich perspectives, broaden experience, and strengthen adaptability within the global business environment. Amid the increasingly complex and dynamic commercial vehicle industry, this move reflects Hino’s commitment to adaptive leadership that aligns with industry developments and evolving customer needs.

Takashi Muto, who served as President Director of HMSI since February 1, 2023, successfully led the company through various challenges and opportunities in the post-pandemic era. Under his leadership, HMSI reinforced its commitment to customers by delivering high-quality products and comprehensive Total Support services, further solidifying Hino’s position as a trusted business partner for customers in Indonesia.

His successor, Shingo Sakai, is a senior Hino professional with nearly two decades of global experience since joining Hino Motors, Ltd. Japan in 2007. Throughout his career, Sakai has held several strategic positions, including overseeing the North American market, leading telematics solution development through HINO-CONNECT, and strengthening the aftersales business covering parts and services.

He also brings extensive international experience, having served as Vice President of Hino Motors Sales Australia and later as President of Hino Motors Philippines, where he led initiatives to strengthen the dealer network, enhance aftersales services, and improve customer satisfaction. In addition, Sakai served as Chairman of Motor Mall NCR, one of Hino’s dealer networks in the Philippines, further deepening his understanding of customer business operations.

“Indonesia is one of Hino’s most important commercial vehicle markets. I am honored to be entrusted with this responsibility. Moving forward, I aim to strengthen Hino’s dealer network, maintain close relationships with customers, reinforce our Total Support services, and ensure that Hino continues to be a reliable business partner for customers in Indonesia,” said Shingo Sakai, President Director of HMSI.

Sakai brings a strong customer satisfaction strategy through his leadership approach known as H.O.P.E. (Honest, Open, Perseverant, Earnest). He emphasizes the importance of strong customer retention as the foundation for long-term business sustainability. With his global experience and strong understanding of Hino’s philosophy, Shingo Sakai is expected to further strengthen the company’s strategic direction while supporting the sustainable growth of customers’ businesses in Indonesia.
