PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) once again reaffirmed its commitment to improving road transportation safety by organizing a panel discussion themed “Building Safe and Roadworthy Transportation Modes through Competent Drivers and Effective Vehicle Maintenance Management.” This activity is part of Hino’s event series at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (GIICOMVEC) 2026, held at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta from April 8–11, 2026.
The panel discussion featured representatives including Senior Investigator of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), Ahmad Wildan; Bayu Permana, Director of Business and Organizational Development of PO Primajasa; and Pieter Andre, Training Division Head of HMSI. The discussion served as a platform for collaboration between Hino, regulators, and operators in building a safer and more sustainable transportation ecosystem.
During the discussion, Hino emphasized that the continuous implementation of safety campaigns is part of the company’s mission to create safer transportation—particularly for passenger mobility—while actively contributing to accident prevention through collaboration with all stakeholders.
“Based on KNKT investigation results, human factors remain the primary cause of accidents. In addition, vehicle conditions and operational systems also play a role. Therefore, improving driver competence and vehicle maintenance management are key factors in enhancing transportation safety,” explained Ahmad Wildan, Senior Investigator of KNKT.
From Hino’s perspective, the company highlighted the importance of driver training and vehicle maintenance management as investments in safety.
“Commercial vehicle drivers carry significant responsibility. Continuous training will improve competence, safety awareness, and driving efficiency. In addition, proper vehicle maintenance management ensures that vehicles remain roadworthy and that safety features function optimally,” said Pieter Andre, Training Division Head of HMSI.
Through this discussion held as part of GIICOMVEC 2026, all speakers agreed that collaboration between ATPM (authorized sole agents), regulators, and operators is key to improving driver competence, enhancing vehicle maintenance quality, and fostering a transportation safety culture in Indonesia. This synergy is expected to deliver safer, roadworthy transportation modes that provide maximum protection for the public.
“As an operator, we ensure selective driver recruitment, regular training, and the implementation of a disciplined vehicle maintenance management system. We also enhance maintenance standards in accordance with ATPM guidelines, from workshop procedures and facilities to improving mechanic competence and providing vehicle inspectors,” said Bayu Permana, Director of Business and Organizational Development of PO Primajasa.
